FAQs

  • At each dental well check you will receive an exam by the doctor and a cleaning with our hygienist.

With each exam you will receive an oral cancer screening and a thorough check of tissue and teeth. During your cleaning our hygienist will use special tools to remove any build-up from the teeth. This is also called scaling. Once scaling is completed, your teeth will then be polished and flossed. We will complete your cleaning with a fluoride treatment. At the end of your appointment we will schedule your recall visit. Coming at least twice a year helps to teeth and gums healthy.

  • A fluoride treatment is a preventative anti-cavity gel. The fluoride is placed at the end of your dental cleaning using a foam tray or brushed on your teeth. Fluoride treatments are recommended for the four main reasons:

    Cavity Reduction Agent

    Anti-microbial

    Remineralize

    Desynthesizing Agent

  • Dental radiographs, (x-rays), are used to help our doctors visualize diseases of the teeth and surrounding areas that cannot be seen with a simple oral exam. Additionally x-rays help our doctors to find and treat dental problems early on that may help prevent and additional pain, cost and maybe even save your life. New patients are commended a full set of x-rays as a baseline record. Current patients are recommended to have one set of bite wing x-rays every 12 months and a full mouth series every 3-5 years depending on dental health. Additionally, if any treatment is needed, most insurance companies require a pre-operative x-ray to help with claim consideration.
